Swim England Teaching Framework

We incorporate the Swim England (ASA) Teaching Framework.

The Swim England Teaching Framework takes the non-swimmer on a journey through specialised Frameworks. Use the links below to learn more about each Framework.

Click on a sub-heading below to find out more about each Framework:

Pre-School Framework

Giving children confidence from the word go.

Teaching the core skills needed to learn the four strokes through fun and games.

The Pre-School Framework is about helping to support younger, less independent swimmers, pre-school children and babies. It also caters for toddlers, helping to keep them motivated if they are struggling with building water confidence. One of the ways to help keep them motivated is a range of bright Awards with fun and friendly characters to reward them as they progress.

The I CAN Awards are a brilliant way to motivate those who might be ‘stuck’ at a particular level of learning. They’re also great for rewarding learners with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

Your child will enjoy receiving a badge and certificate for nine types of skill development.

The Awards are, I CAN…

Discovery Duckling Awards

The Discovery Duckling Awards are the start of the learn to swim experience for all children. These awards are perfect for babies and toddlers and pre-school children who are new to swimming lessons.

Ideal for gaining water confidence while staying close to adult support, these awards are followed by the existing Duckling Awards. The Discovery Duckling Awards 1-4 each have their own certificate and badge.

Ducking Awards

With Duckling Awards your child can work towards four different colourful Awards. Each Award has its own certificate and badge.

Duckling 1 will see children start to move by themselves in the water. By Duckling 4 they will be jumping in, going underwater, floating and travel 10 metres without support. Duckling Awards are great at promoting increased independence and water confidence to help prepare for Stage 1 of the Learn to Swim Framework.

The Water Safety Awards have been developed in partnership with Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Royal Lifesaving Society UK (RLSS UK).
